MCMS Installs Thomas S. Proctor, MD, 2024 President at Annual Meeting

Montgomery County Medical Society celebrated its 2024 Annual Membership Meeting on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at the Dayton Country Club. Beautiful Spring weather welcomed members and guests who enjoyed a cocktail reception and buffet dinner service before the program. Special guests included State Representatives Willis Blackshear, Jr, (D-38) and Susan Manchester (D-78), as well as OSMA Vice President, Advocacy, Monica Hueckel. Ms. Hueckel presented an overview of he critical legislative priority issues that OSMA is advocating on behalf of Ohio physicians and their patients. Some of these include HB 130, the OSMA Prior Authorization “Gold Card”/Major Insurance Reform Initiative; HB 177 on Co-Pay Accumulators; numerous issues relating to Scope of Practice, as well as Public Health Issues and monitoring for interference and over-reach in medicine. The legislators presented overviews of their legislative philosophy and participated in a Q&A session.

Five MCMS physicians were present to receive the OSMA Fifty Year Award, recognizing their milestone achievement of fifty years since their medical school graduation.

The highlight of the evening was the installation of the 2024 MCMS President, Thomas S. Proctor, MD. He took the Oath of Office after acknowledging the dedication of 2023 President John Corker, MD, reading a message engraved on the President’s plaque and presenting him a Past President’s Lapel Pin.
