MCMS Membership Meeting - Thursday, October 28, 2010

This year, MCMS president Evangeline Andarsio, M.D., has convened a special Health Care Reform Task Force which has been meeting diligently and working hard to study and analyze what aspects of health care delivery are working well in our community, as well as identifying areas which may not be as effective as needed. The action goal is to develop a "physician position statement" defining what should constitute good medical care for our Montgomery County community as it relates to the mandates contained in the recently enacted health care reform law. The Task Force will be presenting their report and they plan to conduct a panel discussion with members at this dinner meeting to be held at the Dayton Country Club beginning with a cocktail reception at 6:30 PM. Mark your calendar now and plan to attend and participate in this most important activity.

MCMS Joins GetUp Montgomery County in "5-2-1-Almost None" Campaign

MCMS has partnered with Public Health Dayton & Montgomery County in its efforts to curb obesity in our community. As a green-star partner in this program, MCMS encourages its member physicians to help spread the word to patients, employees and friends and colleagues about the healthy benefit of adopting a "5-2-1-almost none" lifestyle habit. It stands for 5: helpings of fruit and vegetables per day; 2: hours per day limit for electronic activity (t.v., video games, computer, etc); 1: hour of active play each day; and almost none: limiting sugary beverages in diet. Posters are available to display in your office and an on-line pledge can help everyone take a stand in this challenge. Call 937-531-2033; or for more info, visit www.getupmc.org.
